Tom McCutcheon is one of the most accomplished trainers in the history of reining, with a career defined by elite competition results and long-term horsemanship. As a two-time World Equestrian Games gold medalist, NRHA $3 Million Rider, and NRHA Hall of Fame inductee, Tom McCutcheon has consistently set the standard at the highest level of the sport. His success spans major futurity, derby, and championship events, as well as national television appearances and industry leadership. As a Summit Animal Health ambassador, Tom relies on targeted equine nutrition to support the performance, soundness, and longevity of his show horses and breeding stallions.

Who Is Tom McCutcheon?

Tom McCutcheon is widely recognized as one of the most influential figures in modern reining. With more than $3 million in NRHA lifetime earnings, his resume includes multiple world titles, national championships, and industry honors. Beyond competition, Tom has contributed to the growth of reining through training, mentorship, and media involvement, including consulting work for major television productions. His career reflects a rare balance of competitive excellence, horse welfare, and professional integrity that continues to shape the sport today.

Raised in a family of horse trainers, Tom quickly established himself as a leader in the sport. His career highlights include being named USEF Equestrian of the Year, as well as appearances on national television, including consulting for the hit series Yellowstone and the CMT reality competition The Last Cowboy.

Today, Tom and his wife Mandy McCutcheon, herself a Hall of Fame rider and NRHA $3 Million Non-Pro, operate Tom McCutcheon Reining Horses in Aubrey, Texas. Their world-class facility offers training, breeding, stallion management, and rehabilitation services, producing elite horses and riders at the international level.
