Iditarod Musher • Sled Dog Breeder & Trainer • Herbie Nayokpuk Award Honoree
We trained for the 2022 Iditarod and used the product on a team. That dog sled team ran over 2000 miles training and had no injuries. That is unheard-of! I believe that it was because of Summit.
Bridgett Watkins is an Alaskan musher, sled dog breeder, and trainer, known for her determination and care in the grueling sport of long-distance mushing. She grew up surrounded by the sled dog tradition, mentored by her step-parents, renowned mushers Allen Moore and Aliy Zirkle, and began racing in junior and sprint events before moving into mid- and long-distance races.
In 2018, Bridgett and her husband established Kennel on a Hill in Fairbanks, Alaska, where they focus on breeding, training, and competing with elite long-distance sled dogs.
Bridgett made her Iditarod debut in 2022, though her run was interrupted when her team was attacked by a moose during training earlier in the season. She returned in 2023 to successfully finish the 1,000-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, earning the Herbie Nayokpuk Award for sportsmanship, fortitude, and kindness.
In addition to racing, Bridgett is a full-time ER nurse and mother of two. She has also become a published author, sharing her journey and lessons from the trail in her book Marker to Marker.
Bridgett credits Summit Animal Health’s Joint & Mobility supplements for dogs with keeping her canine athletes sound and resilient through thousands of training miles and some of the world’s most demanding races.
